"Don't judge a book by its Cover"
Firstly, why would a book use a rubbish cover to sell itself? Thats a bad Idea from the start. If you're trying to sell something you make it bright and interesting, with a hint of whats inside.
Secondly, if you believe that logic, you really have to read the book to understand it, but since its often used as a metaphor for humans and judging the people we meet do we really have to read cover to cover to understand. In a novel you can skip to the end after the first few chapters and miss out the real drama, but that last chapter tends to tell you how its all come together to form, the often tragic, sometimes happy ending.
Inebriated blogging is something I appear to be right into just now. The thought that caught me was, the phrase "I can't read them". I said it, but I didn't just mean I couldn't understand them, I meant I couldn't see inside them and understand how they were thinking, how they worked. Sometimes you really need to cover of the book if your going to make that leap from the start to the end and miss out the middle.
Should we learn every little detail about other peoples lives to learn to understand them? I don't think so. Since living people don't have a "final chapter" yet, I guess you've got to use them right now, against who they were, because lets face it, everyone was someone else at one point. We're influenced by the people we grow up with. Friends, Parents, Siblings, Teachers, Coaches or Family friends we're all molded into the people we become. But thats such a good thing, because its rare, other than twins to have all the same external input. I think thats one reason every one of us is so different, each with a different cover and story to tell.
So be bright and interesting, not literally, just don't be dull and boring on the outside.
